Unfortunately, the beautiful, porcelain insert is quite heavy. The 3rd time I used it, as I was cleaning it I dropped it in the sink and it cracked. Finding a replacement for the insert was next to impossible. When I did, it was cheaper to purchase the entire new crockpot! A shame and wasteful. Well, scratch that, you can if you add too little liquid to the pot, but usually it's as simple as throwing some ingredients into the pot, setting it on low, going to bed, and waking up to a wonderful meal.I purchased this from Wal-Mart about 6 months ago and I've used it a few dozen times since. It has four heat/time options - 4, 6, 8, or 10 hours. In my experience, everything's better when cooked on the slowest setting, 10 hours. I've actually cooked things at the highest setting, 4 hours, tasted them and decided they didn't turn out well, and re-cooked them for another 10 hours (14 hours, now that's slow!) and the magical fairies in the Crock Pot turned tough meat and under-cooked veggies into a gourmet meal.
