But my boyfriend, an ex-fireman, had some concerns about bringing a slow cooker into the house, since he knew of case where they started fires. I read up on this one to be sure it was well-regulated and became convinced it was a reliable and safe product. I have been very happy with it. Not only does it heat slowly and steadily, but it seals beautifully for transport and it has a handsome interior crock that looks quite nice set on the table.
